FAQs for Therapists
What types of materials and formats are used for sessions?
Our therapists use interactive onscreen games and motivating activities to engage students during online sessions. The activities are individualized based on the student’s needs and functional level. Physical therapists incorporate gross motor movement activities, and occupational therapists can target fine motor skills, such as handwriting through use of webcams and manipulatives.
Can therapy evaluations be completed online?
Yes, definitely. There are standardized assessment materials that are available in a digital format, and therapists can utilize these measures to complete online evaluations. If your student needs an assessment, E-Therapy can work with you to determine what is the best evaluation method to suit the student’s needs.
Will I be responsible for attending IEP meetings?
Yes, our therapists are part of the IEP team, and they attend IEP meetings virtually (either by phone or video conference).
What type of schedule can I request, or hours can I work?
At E-Therapy we let our therapists decide how many hours they want to work. You may choose to work for several but limited hours per week, or you may want to work a full schedule every day. We ask that our therapists let us know what days and times they are available, and we will assign students to therapists when we receive referrals that fit with their licensure. Our students are seen during the school day, and the therapist typically sets up a session schedule with the school/family according to their desired schedule.
Do I need a specific certification in telepractice to work with students online?
You do not need a telepractice certification to work with E-Therapy. We will provide you with guidance and materials to help you be successful in conducting your teletherapy sessions.
What type of state licenses or credentials do I need to have?
In order to provide telepractice services, you need to be licensed for your discipline in the state where you reside and in the state where the student is located. You can see students in your home state, or you can become licensed in multiple states to have more referral opportunities if you desire.
Do I need to have a background check and fingerprinting?
Yes, E-Therapy requires a basic background check and fingerprinting. We have support staff that will help to guide you through this process as needed.
What type of support or resources does E-Therapy provide therapists?
At E-Therapy we provide our therapists with a library of resources for working with students as well as ongoing opportunities to learn about how to conduct effective teletherapy sessions. Our therapists have a dedicated account manager for each school that they work with. The account manager is always there to provide support and guidance as needed.
What type of equipment do I need or am I responsible for?
Am I allowed to work other jobs while freelancing for E-Therapy?
You can work other part-time jobs while contracting with E-Therapy as long as you have adequate time to devote to your teletherapy caseload. Some of our therapists choose to work for E-Therapy on certain days of the week and work at an onsite location on other days. Our contract does stipulate that you do not work with another telepractice company while you work with E-Therapy.
