Speech language disorders can be caused by a variety of factors. It can vary from developmental delays to genetics, or brain injury and neurological disorders to learning disabilities. Environmental factors can also lead to speech language issues.

Implementation depends on the needs of each individual. Speech language therapy can be done one-on-one or in a group setting. Online speech therapy is implemented using a variety of technologies such as video conferencing, teletherapy, and online therapy platforms.

The length of speech language therapy varies depending on the severity of the disorder and the individual’s progress. SLPs will work alongside other stakeholders and providers, such as parents, school psychologists, and special education teachers to make sure the student is receiving what they need to improve.
