Online Activity Round-Up: February 2020

online activitiesLove is in the air for February! This month, we have been focused on all things love and sharing love – from Valentines’ Day to African American History Month to Mental Health Awareness. There are so many activities you can use with your students in your online therapy sessions to share these moments and help them reach their goals. Here are some we love!

Looking for an online therapy activity to help celebrate and learn about African American History Month? Here are a few of our favorites:

Storyline Online “To Be A Drum”.Use this beautiful online story to facilitate a conversation about African American History Month, while targeting therapy goals. Be sure to listen to the special message from narrator, James Earl Jones, at the beginning of the story when he mentions that he is a stutterer and has dyslexia. Reading Worksheets from K12 Reader Following a monthly theme can really help students engage with reading-oriented language goals. These online reading worksheets about African American inventors are great for addressing “wh” questions and language comprehension skills.

All About Valentine’s Day? Try one of these activities.

Make a cupcake with ABCyaBring (virtual) baking into your therapy room! Use this fun cake decorating activity to practice following directions, sequencing, turn taking, and more!  Chain of Hearts on Squigly’s PlayhouseWe love the game “Chain of Hearts”! In this game, students can connect hearts of the same color together to target attention and visual motor skills.
