Remember using wooden sticks or toothpicks with black scratch art paper to draw pictures? Now your students can create scratch art virtually with the Scratch Art Jamboards! These are fun activities to do with distance learning students, to set up as a center in your classroom, or as part of a teletherapy session (E-Therapy’s SLPs love it!). Use these erase-and-reveal activities to promote the following goal areas:
- Letter formation
- Spelling
- Intentional communication skills
- Turn-taking
- Verbal descriptions skills
- Oral communication skills
- Reinforcers for skill practice, work completion, and participation
- Artistic expression
- Stress reduction
- Messages of caring

- Click here to make a copy of the Jamboard template. (give it a minute)
- Open the Jamboard and select the eraser tool from the toolbar on the left.
- Move the mouse over the blank page to reveal the colorful background as you draw or write words. If you have an iPad or computer touchscreen, you can also draw with your finger.
Each slide has an image uploaded into the background. The black cover “paper” was created by coloring over the entire slide with the black marker tool. And yes, it took a chunk of time to marker over the entire slide, which is why these Jamboards take longer to load.Once the students have their drawing completed, each slide drawing can be saved as an individual image. You can print them to display or include them in a portfolio of work.If you plan on using the activity more than once, it is recommended that you make and save several unused copies in your Google Drive.
